SZ confirms two more imported COVID-19 cases with total rising to 446

Shenzhen confirmed 2 new imported COVID-19 cases on March 27, adding the number of imported cases in the city to 29, according to the latest figures released by the Health Commission of Shenzhen Municipality today.

Case 28 is a 32-year-old male of Chinese nationality returning to China from Brazil. He flew from Sao Paulo to Istanbul, Turkey on flight TK194 on March 21, left Istanbul for Hong Kong on flight TK070 on March 23, and then boarded flight 9C8922 to Shanghai on March 24. He entered the Chinese mainland via Pudong International Airport, and his body temperature upon entry was within the normal range. On March 25, he flew from Shanghai to Shenzhen on flight CA1893, and was later sent to a designated quarantine point by a designated vehicle for observation. On March 26, feeling that he might have developed a fever, he took his body temperature with a mercury thermometer and found that it had risen to 37.7 degrees Celsius. He was then sent to hospital by an ambulance. Preliminary nucleic acid test results and reviewed results released on the same day were both positive. He was confirmed of infection by medical experts on March 27. 

The patient has been transferred to Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital for treatment. The 3 persons on the Chinese mainland who have been traced to have had close contact with the patient have all been quarantined for medical observation. 

Case 29 is a 51-year-old female of American nationality returning to China from the United States for work purposes. She flew from New York to Taipei on flight BR0031 on March 21, then flew from Taipei to Shanghai on flight CA196 on March 22 and entered the Chinese mainland via Pudong International Airport. Her body temperature upon entry was 36.4 degrees Celsius. On March 23, she boarded flight CA1893 to Shenzhen, and then was sent to a designated quarantine point by a designated vehicle for observation. Preliminary nucleic acid test results and reviewed results released on March 26 were both positive. She was confirmed of infection by medical experts on March 27. 

The patient has been transferred to Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital for treatment. The 1 person on the Chinese mainland who has been traced to have had close contact with the patient has been quarantined for medical observation. 

As of March 27, Shenzhen had confirmed a total of 446 COVID-19 cases. Of the confirmed cases, 217 are male and 229 are female.

So far, 416 patients have been discharged from hospital, and 3 deaths have been reported.

All the 27 patients are being treated at Shenzhen No. 3 People's Hospital. 391 persons in close contact with the patients are under medical observation.
