SZ confirms one more imported COVID-19 case with total cases rising to 447

Shenzhen confirmed 1 new imported COVID-19 case on March 28, adding the number of imported cases in the city to 30, according to the latest figures released by the Health Commission of Shenzhen Municipality today.

Case 30 is a 20-year-old male of Chinese nationality studying in the United Kingdom and returned to China from the United Kingdom. He flew from Birmingham to Dubai on flight EK038 on March 21, then flew from Dubai to Hong Kong on flight EK380 on March 22, and then boarded flight HX238 for Shanghai on March 23 and entered the Chinese mainland via Hongqiao International Airport. Upon entry he reported he had coughing in the past month, so he was sent to a local hospital for observation by an ambulance. His preliminary nucleic acid test result released on March 24 was negative. On March 25, he flew from Shanghai to Shenzhen on flight CZ3552, and was later sent to a designated quarantine point for further observation by a designated vehicle. On March 27, he began to develop symptoms including fever, headache and aggravated coughing. Thus, he was sent to hospital by an ambulance. His preliminary nucleic acid test result and reviewed result released on March 28 were both positive. 

The patient has been transferred to Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital for treatment. The 7 persons on the Chinese mainland who have been traced to have had close contact with the patient have all been quarantined for medical observation. 

As of March 28, Shenzhen had confirmed a total of 447 COVID-19 cases. Of the confirmed cases, 218 are male and 229 are female.

So far, 416 patients have been discharged from hospital, and 3 deaths have been reported.

All the 28 patients are being treated at Shenzhen No. 3 People's Hospital. 393 persons in close contact with the patients are under medical observation.
