SZ confirms two more imported COVID-19 cases with total cases rising to 449

Shenzhen confirmed 2 new imported COVID-19 cases on March 29, adding the number of imported cases in the city to 32, according to the latest figures released by Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission today.

Case 31 is a 19-year-old male student of Chinese nationality returning from the United States. He flew from Washington to Los Angeles on flight UA719 on March 18, then  boarded flight CZ328 for Guangzhou and entered the Chinese mainland via Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on March 20. He was later sent back to Shenzhen by a designated vehicle for observation. On March 25, he began to feel unwell. On March 26, he was sent to hospital by an ambulance, and his test result released on the same day was negative. His preliminary nucleic acid test result and reviewed result released on March 28 were both positive, and he was confirmed of COVID-19 infection by medical experts on March 29.

The patient has been transferred to Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital for treatment. Primary tracing results show that no person on the Chinese mainland has had close contact with the patient. 

Case 32 is an 18-year-old male student of Chinese nationality returning from the United States. He flew from San Francisco to Guangzhou on flight CZ658 on March 25, and entered the Chinese mainland via Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on March 27. He reported that he showed symptoms including headache on March 15 while he was still in the States, and reported existing symptoms including coughing, phlegm and slightly runny nose. His body temperature upon entry was within the normal range. He was sent to a designated quarantine point by a designated vehicle for observation after being sampled at the customs. His preliminary nucleic acid result released on March 28 and reviewed result released on March 29 were both positive, and he was confirmed of COVID-19 infection by medical experts.

The patient has been transferred to Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital for treatment. The 1 person on the Chinese mainland who has been traced to have had close contact with the patient has been quarantined for medical observation. 

As of  March 29, Shenzhen had confirmed a total of 449 COVID-19 cases. Of the confirmed cases, 220 are male and 229 are female.

So far, 416 patients have been discharged from hospital, and 3 deaths have been reported.

All the 30 patients are being treated at Shenzhen No. 3 People's Hospital. 385 persons in close contact with the patients are under medical observation.
