Shenzhen confirms one more imported COVID-19 case

On April 4, Shenzhen confirmed 1 more imported COVID-19 case. As of 24:00 of April 4, the city had confirmed a total of 454 cases.

Case 36 is a 22-year-old male student of Chinese nationality returning to China from the United States. He flew from San Francisco to Guangzhou on flight CZ658 on March 27, and entered the Chinese mainland via Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on March 29. His body temperature upon entry was 36.7 degrees Celsius. He was sampled at the customs for reporting his history of residence in the United States, and his preliminary nucleic acid test result was negative. He was later sent to a designated quarantine point in Shenzhen by a designated vehicle. 

On April 2, he began to develop a fever with his body temperature reaching 37.7 degrees Celsius and showing symptoms of dry and sore throat, mild coughing and fatigue. On the same day he was sent to hospital by an ambulance. His preliminary nucleic test result and reviewed result released on April 3 were both positive, and he was confirmed of COVID-19 infection after a group consultation of medical experts on April 4.

The patient has been transferred to Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital for treatment. Preliminary tracing results show that no person on the Chinese mainland has had close contact with the patient.

Domestic cases

No new domestic case was confirmed on April 4. The number of domestic cases confirmed in the city remains at 418. 

Imported cases

1 new imported case was confirmed on April 4, bringing the number of imported cases confirmed in the city to 36.

Asymptomatic cases

1 new asymptomatic case was reported on April 4. Currently, 21 asymptomatic patients are under medical observation, among which 11 are from outside the Chinese mainland.

Of the confirmed cases, 223 are male and 231 are female. 

So far, 419 patients have been discharged from hospital after recovery, and 3 deaths have been reported. 

All the 32 patients are being treated at Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital. 445 persons in close contact with the patients are under medical observation.
