Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) decided that face-to-face teaching will resume starting May 18. Students should return to the campus for registration between May 16 and 17, in accordance with the notice issued by Guangdong Provincial Education Department.

In order to ensure people’s safety, SZTU will use larger sized classrooms featuring better ventilation conditions for teaching activities.

Some classes might be divided into smaller sizes to better limit the number of students in each class.

Students will be given a healthcare bag, including two bottles of hand sanitizer, 30 face masks and a customized card holder (used as a permit to enter campus).

The school invented its own infrared radiation thermometer, and the equipment has been installed at the entrance of every school building. Emergency quarantine zones have been set at entrances, in order to carry out a second body temperature check if abnormalities are found in the first, DT News reported yesterday.

Pedal buttons which replace the original elevator buttons to achieve contactless control of elevators have been installed in the student dormitories.

SZTU has also prepared 100 single rooms to use for quarantine.

Furthermore, students will be arranged to dine in the canteen at different times to avoid mass gatherings. Social distancing will also be practiced when students and teachers are waiting in line at the canteens.

SZTU said that they redesignated special warehouses to store epidemic prevention materials.

At present, the materials collected from various channels can be used for at least one month, of which disinfectant liquid and powder are available for more than three months.

Teaching buildings, library, canteens, student dormitories and SZTU’s clinic have all been disinfected so far, according to SZTU.

The campus will be placed under close supervision after it reopens. Delivery service will be made contactless. Additionally, all people entering the campus will have their temperature checked and are required to have real-name registration.
