Meaning:

Literally translated as “to get one’s blood back,” this term is originally used by gamers to describe a tactic in games to recover their combat power after suffering a “blood loss” as the result of being hit by enemies. Things used to help gamers to “get their blood back” often include various food and drinks, sprays, herbs and other procedures. Today, this term is often used jokingly in a more general sense to describe scenarios where a person or thing is recovering from a disease, injury or loss.

Example:

A: 你的股票投资最近怎么样?

Nǐ de gǔpiào tóuzī zuìjìn zěnmeyàng?

How did your stock portfolio perform recently?

B: 前段时间受疫情影响跌了不少,现在正慢慢回血中。

Qiánduàn shíjiān shòu yìqíng yǐngxiǎng diē le bùshǎo,xiànzài zhèng mànmàn huíxuè zhōng。

The stock prices nosedived for a while because of the COVID-19 outbreak, but they are rebounding now.
