Updates on COVID-19 cases in Shenzhen (April 29)

On April 28, Shenzhen confirmed 1 new domestic COVID-19 case with 4 more patients discharged from hospital after recovery. As of midnight of April 28, the city had confirmed a total of 462 cases.

Domestic case No. 423 is a 29-year-old male. He traveled from Zengcheng District, Guangzhou to Bao’an District, Shenzhen on April 22. 

He began to feel fatigued and unwell on the evening of April 24, and did not feel better in the following day. On April 26, he went to Bao’an People’s Hospital for medical advice as he felt his symptoms were getting worse. His nucleic acid test result released by the hospital at 9 p.m. was positive, and he was sent to the Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen by an ambulance at 11 p.m.. His reviewed nucleic acid test result released by Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention on April 27 was also positive. He was diagnosed with COVID-19 infection after a group consultation by medical experts on April 28, and currently he is in stable condition. The 18 people who have been traced to have close contact with the patient are being quarantined. 

Domestic cases

1 new domestic case was confirmed on April 28, bringing the number of domestic cases confirmed in the city to 423. 

Imported cases

No new imported case was confirmed on April 28. The number of imported cases confirmed in the city remains 39. 

Asymptomatic cases

No new asymptomatic case was reported on April 28. Currently, 11 asymptomatic patients are under medical observation, among which 5 traveled from outside the Chinese mainland.

Of the confirmed cases, 229 are male and 233 are female. 

So far, 451 patients have been discharged from hospital after recovery, and 3 deaths have been reported. 

All of the 8 patients are being treated at the Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen. 156 people in close contact with the patients are under medical observation.
