City’s universities move up ranks

Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) moved up to 8th place among mainland universities in China in the Asia University Rankings 2020 released by Times Higher Education (THE) magazine.

Additionally, in the ranking of Asian universities, the school moved from 41st in 2019 to 33rd in 2020, as shown at a virtual ceremony Wednesday.

THE magazine ranked 489 universities in 30 countries and regions across Asia, including 81 universities from China (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan).

Shenzhen University ranks No. 22 among mainland universities and 88 among Asian universities.

A total of 81 mainland universities made it onto the list. Tsinghua and Peking University were the top two universities in Asia.

THE World University Rankings, QS World University Rankings, U.S. News World University Rankings and the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) are recognized as the world’s four leading university rankings.
