Some expressways in the city, such as Jihe (Airport-Heao), Guanshen (Dongguan-Shenzhen) and Longda (Longhua-Dalingshan) expressways are expected to be congested between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. today by outbound vehicles for the Dragon Boat Festival holiday.
The city’s railway terminals, including Shenzhen North Railway Station and Shenzhen Railway Station, will also see a peak for holiday travel between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. tomorrow, the first day of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, sources from the Shenzhen Municipal Transport Bureau said.
This year’s Dragon Boat Festival falls on tomorrow, and the holiday will last until Saturday, June 27.
Expressways will not be toll-free during the holiday period, the bureau reminds drivers.
The bureau suggests holidaymakers stagger their traveling hours to avoid crowding in public areas such as OCT Harbour, Dameisha and Xiaomeisha beaches and Lianhua Hill Park.

Shenzhen’s railway terminals are estimated to handle 1 million trips during the four-day travel rush between today and Saturday. The peak will be tomorrow, which will see 35,000 trips at Shenzhen Railway Station and 180,000 trips at Shenzhen North Railway Station.
Shenzhen North Railway Station will reschedule 42 pairs of trains including 21 pairs on Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong rail, and 21 pairs on Hangzhou-Xiamen-Shenzhen rail to accommodate the holiday travel. Eight pairs of high-speed trains and six pairs of regular trains will be added for the holiday.

The Humen Bridge still prohibits freight trucks and buses with more than 40 seats 24 hours a day. Due to a road project, the emergency lanes on the bridge are closed.
Guangdong will experience a round of rain between today and tomorrow. The northern cities of Shaoguan, Qingyuan, Zhaoqing and Heyuan and northern areas of Guangzhou and Huizhou will have heavy rain. Most areas in western Guangdong and the Pearl River Delta area will have medium rain.
In some other areas, there will be heavy rain as well, according to forecasts of Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory.
