Shenzhen traffic police estimate short-distance travel within Guangdong Province will be the primary form of travel during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday and will not impose limitations on vehicles to Dapeng and Meisha areas in the city’s east.

The Dragon Boat Festival holiday falls between Thursday and Saturday.

Residents are advised to make plans in advance as the tourist attractions in the city, and the expressways within Guangdong Province, will face increased traffic pressure.

Based on the data, Dameisha and Xiaomeisha beaches are among the top 10 beach destinations for drivers in China.

The expressways such as the Shenzhen section of G15, Jehe (Airport-Heao) Expressway, Guanshen (Dongguan-Shenzhen) Expressway and Longda (Longhua-Dalingshan) Expressway are more likely to be congested.

Police in Yantian and Dapeng will tighten patrols to monitor traffic in the eastern part of the city and impose traffic controls when necessary, police said at a news conference Tuesday.

The tourist attractions in Dapeng, one Grade-A scenic spot and three of tourism areas, still require visitors to make online reservations one to three days in advance. The four attractions are the Rose Coast Cultural and Tourist Resort, Dapeng Fortress area (Dapeng Fortress and Jiaochangwei), Jinsha Bay Beach and Xichong Bathing Beach.

Visitors can make reservations through WeChat account “大鹏文旅通” (WeChat ID: dpwtly) and show the reservations upon visiting the tourism areas. Visitors also need to show their health codes and have their temperature checked before entering the areas.

Tourists for Dapeng Fortress and Jiaochangwei will each be capped at 20,000 per day, while the capacity for Xichong Bathing Beach will be capped at 10,000 for the holiday.

Each parent is allowed to bring one child under 16 years old and the child does not need to make an independent reservation.
