Fruit exports through Shenzhen Customs reached 150,000 tons and was valued at 1.8 billion yuan (US$257.1 million) in the first half of this year, customs statistics showed yesterday.
The destinations for fruit exports also increased from 18 countries and regions to 32, including the new markets of Ukraine, Albania and Nigeria.
“We recently received orders for fresh lemons from Ukraine, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), customers want fruits high in vitamins,” Li Fangling, a manager with Shenzhen Baiguohui Agriculture Produce Co. Ltd., said.
Since work resumed Feb. 10 after a long holiday because of COVID-19, Shenzhen Yuanxing Fruits Products Co. Ltd. has exported 7,000 tons of fruit, an increase of 25 percent year-on-year, according to Luo Mansi, the manager of the international market department of the company.
Shenzhen Customs also reported the data on trade with ASEAN countries recently.
The imports of agriculture produce from ASEAN countries to Shenzhen increased by 34.1 percent in H1 to 45.4 billion yuan year-on-year.
Shenzhen’s imports and exports with ASEAN countries increased by 14 percent year-on-year to 211.11 billion yuan in the first half of this year, data from Shenzhen Customs showed.
The second quarter kept a good momentum over the first quarter with an increase of 15.5 percentage points.
With the recovery of economies in the ASEAN countries, the demand for electronic products increased and stimulated imports.
Shenzhen Customs signed 37,000 Certificates of Origin in H1, for Shenzhen exporters to ASEAN countries, covering telecommunication equipment, machinery equipment, steel wares and furniture, and helped cut or exempt 490 million yuan in import tariffs for Shenzhen exporters.
Shenzhen Mindray Medical Co. Ltd. has seen a fast growth of exported products like electrocardiograph (EDG) machines and portable Doppler ultrasound systems in H1.
Also in H1, Shenzhen Customs signed 243 Certificates of Origin for the company and helped cut or exempt 7.35 million yuan in tariffs, an increase of 20.9 percent over the same period last year.
Shenzhen Mi Technology and Information Co. Ltd. applied for registration as a Certificate of Origin applicant in January this year and was issued the first Certificate of Origin in March. In H1, Shenzhen Customs signed 26 Certificates of Origin covering power banks, bluetooth earphones and intelligent wristbands and helped cut or exempt 600,000 yuan in tariffs for the company.
