Well-known Chinese entrepreneurs will jointly issue a declaration on building Chinese brands in Shenzhen at the “brand and country” forum Aug. 22, according to information released at a news conference yesterday.

The declaration, as one of the highlights of the forum held by the Shenzhen Innovation and Creative Design Development Office and the National Brand Gallery, represents Chinese entrepreneurs’ determination to develop Chinese brands, according to Hu Hengfang, secretary general of the National Brand Gallery.

Prominent economists and experts in the field of brand marketing, communication and media will come to Shenzhen to deliver keynote speeches at the forum.

They will also share their insights and opinions on the development of Chinese brands.

Shenzhen has been putting forward efforts to build “a city of brands” over recent years.

The city received permission to build the National Brand Gallery in 2017 in a bid to further promote the building of domestic brands.

Han Wangxi, director of the Shenzhen Innovation and Creative Design Development Office, said at the news conference that global competition to some degree is about brand competition.

Han thus stressed the importance of developing first-class domestic brands, especially building Shenzhen into “a city of brands.”

Ding Junjie, a professor from Communication University of China, noted that brands are not only a reflection of a country’s competitiveness but also an important resource for participating in global competition.

Ding mentioned Japan and the U.S. as two examples that are advanced in brand building.

Ding hoped that Shenzhen can take the opportunity to develop high-quality designs and brands.
