The novel coronavirus that is responsible for the COVID-19 disease was recently found on the surface of samples of a batch of imported frozen chicken wings, according to a notice released Thursday morning by the Shenzhen Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters.

The batch of chicken wings was imported from Brazil (registration number: SIF601; batch number: 7720051522).

The virus was found during an inspection of imported cold-chain foods conducted in Longgang District on Tuesday.

The reviewed results released by the Guangdong Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday were also positive.

Nucleic acid tests have been conducted for all people who may have had contact with relevant products, and all have tested negative. Those who have had close contact with the samples that tested positive have been included in a health monitoring program.

All inventory of relevant frozen products in the city have been withheld and tested, and all have tested negative. Tracing of products of the same batch that have been sold are being carried out.

The packages of similar products and their storage environment have all been disinfected.

Relevant authorities will carry out further tracing and testing of similar frozen products.

Citizens are reminded to be cautious when purchasing imported frozen meat products and aquatic products and continue to take protective measures to minimize the risk of infection.
