Two new Metro lines, Line 6 and Line 10, will open to the public at noon tomorrow, the operator Shenzhen Metro Group announced yesterday.

The 29.3-kilometer Line 10 rail runs between Futian Checkpoint and Shuangyongjie Station in Longgang District, passing through Futian and Longgang, calling at 24 stations. Passengers can change to Lines 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9 and 6 along the journey that will take 45 minutes.

Line 6 runs 49.3 kilometers and has 27 stations. It starts from Songgang Station in Bao’an and ends at Science Museum Station in Futian District, passing through Bao’an, Guangming, Longhua, Futian and Luohu. The trip takes 66 minutes.

Along Line 6, passengers can change to Line 11 at Songgang Station, Line 4 at Hongshan Station, Lines 4 and 5 at North Railway Station, Line 9 at Yinhu Station, Line 7 at Bagualing Station, Line 3 at Tongxinling Station, and Line 1 at Science Museum Station.

The operation of Line 6 and Line 10 is inconsistent when compared with the other existing lines. The operator noted that the section between Science Museum Station and Fenghuangcheng (both directions), and the section between Fenghuangcheng and Songgang (both directions) of Line 6, and Futian Checkpoint and the Gankeng section (one direction) of Line 10 will offer half-way final train service after 11 p.m., but plans to extend the service to 11:30 p.m. are in development.

The operation of Line 6 and Line 10 is expected to stimulate the development of Longhua, and relieve the burden of Line 4 and congestions at the Baishilong and Minle stations. Residents in Guangming, Pinghu, Banxuegang and Huawei New Town will benefit as they can change to Line 6 at Hongshan Station and Line 4 at Shenzhen North Station.

Smart ticketing technologies including facial recognition and payment by smartphone will be applied on the two lines.

Three other lines, Phase III of Line 2, Phase III of Line 3 and Phase I of Line 8 will be put into operation before the end of the year, according to the operator.
