A total of 1,966 organizations and projects have declared their intention to participate in the 8th China Charity Fair, which will take place from Sept. 18 to 20 at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, according to a press conference yesterday.

Among the declared projects, anti-poverty initiatives account for more than 80 percent, which will fully demonstrate the typical cases, innovative models and achievements of social forces in poverty alleviation.

The three-day event will feature three pavilions in Hall 1, 5 and 6 of the convention and exhibition center, with an exhibition area of about 42,500 square meters.

This year’s charity fair will have a wider range of exhibitors and display the poverty-alleviation measures taken in the hinterland and severely impoverished areas in China, the fair’s organizing committee office said at the press conference.

A rich variety of agricultural products and specialties from poverty-stricken areas, as well as cultural heritage handicrafts from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Jiangsu Province, will be showcased at the fair, in a bid to encourage the public to support poverty alleviation through commerce.

As of Aug. 10, a total of 1,969 products had been registered to be displayed at the charity fair.

China is en route to reaching its target of eradicating poverty in rural areas and eliminating regional poverty by the end of 2020.

This year’s charity fair will feature an international symposium on public welfare and nine seminars on topics such as poverty relief, rural revitalization and sustainable development in poor areas, to share China’s experience and achievements in poverty alleviation to the world.

Meanwhile, a series of online and offline activities will be staged concurrently to facilitate the matchmaking of resources to support poverty-relief programs and products.
