Foreign trade reaches ¥1.6t in first 7 months

Shenzhen's foreign trade reached 1.61 trillion yuan (US$232.72 billion) in the first seven months, a 1.6-percent increase year on year, Shenzhen Customs showed recently.

Exports was calculated to be 880.6 billion yuan, ranking No. 1 among Chinese cities.

Foreign trade in July was 275.2 billion yuan, up by 13.5 percent year on year.

In general trade, between January and July trade value was 824.1 billion yuan, up by 6.6 percent year on year.

The export of data processing devices and spare parts increased slightly.

In imports, electronic components and agriculture produce, especially fruit, meat and edible oil, increased significantly.

Trade with ASEAN countries increased by 11.9 percent year on year to 248.3 billion yuan, and trade with other economies like the EU, U.K., South Korea and Japan also increased.

What is worth noting, customs said, was the trade of Shenzhen’s private enterprises in the first seven months increased by 6.1 percent year on year to 973.8 billion yuan.

In another development, total retail sales of consumer goods in Shenzhen in July realized positive growth of 1.9 percent year on year to 77.6 billion yuan. It was the first positive growth since the beginning of the year. Between January and July, total retail sales of consumer goods was 441.6 billion yuan, down by 12.3 percent over the same period of 2019, data from the Shenzhen Municipal Statistics Bureau showed recently.

Between January and July, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated level increased by 0.2 percent, and investments in fixed assets increased by 9.9 percent, compared with the same period last year. The local general public budgetary revenue was 241.5 billion yuan, a 4.2-percent year-on-year decrease, and local general public budgetary expenditure reduced by 12.6 percent year on year to 222.5 billion yuan.
