Hema Fresh Shuibei outlet reopens

HEMA Fresh supermarket chain’s Shuibei outlet in IBC Mall in Luohu District will resume business today, more than two weeks after two workers were found to be asymptomatic COVID-19 carriers.

Office buildings and commercial buildings near the IBC Mall reopened Sunday morning after strict procedures of nucleic acid testing and venue disinfection were carried out.

The city had dispatched more than 5,000 personnel and collected a total of 743,000 samples to perform nucleic acid tests for COVID-19 over the past two weeks since Aug. 14.

A total of 1,500 medical workers, from Luohu Hospital Group and four municipal hospitals, were stationed in the IBC Mall to collect nucleic acid test samples.

Two asymptomatic COVID-19 cases were reported in the city Aug. 14. Both worked at the Hema Fresh Supermarket Shuibei outlet in the IBC Mall, as previously reported.

According to Huang Lina, general manager of Hema Fresh Greater Bay Area, the Hema Fresh Supermarket Shuibei outlet will officially resume online and offline operations today. Hema Fresh Supermarket is a food chain backed by e-commerce giant Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.

The store clearly stipulates that all employees on duty must present a negative nucleic acid test result, and the fresh aquatic products sold in the store will also be equipped with a dynamic source tracing system.

As for environmental disinfection and cleaning, Huang said the shopping space will be disinfected every day according to regulations.
