The Hema Fresh supermarket chain’s Shuibei outlet in IBC Mall in Luohu District saw lower foot traffic Tuesday, the day it reopened after an 18-day suspension, Shenzhen Economic Daily reported yesterday.

The store was closed after two workers were found to be asymptomatic COVID-19 carriers Aug. 14. Office buildings and commercial buildings near the IBC Mall reopened Sunday morning.

As of 9 a.m. Tuesday, all 21 Hema Fresh outlets in the city had resumed operations.

Guo Yu, manager of the Shuibei outlet, said more than 200 employees on duty all presented a negative nucleic acid test result, and the fresh aquatic products sold in the store had also joined a dynamic source tracing system.

A specialized company was hired to carry out space disinfection at least once every two weeks, and the store is cleaned and disinfected according to the prevention and control requirements every day, according to Guo.

Guo said the merchandise categories were similar to those before on the first day of the store’s reopening, but the food processing and dining area of the store had not yet been reopened.

Foot traffic was slightly lower than the average of more than 1,000 people per day before Aug. 14, but online trading volume leveled off, Guo added.
