Futian District is creating a “service circle” that enables elderly people to enjoy a care service within 15 minutes’ walk from home, sources from an event featuring Futian’s elderly care service said Tuesday.
An elderly care network in four levels, specifically subdistrict, community, residential compound and family, designed by the district will enable services to be available at the doorstep of elderly citizens.
A reporter with Shenzhen Economic Daily visited a daily nursing care home located in an apartment building at Chuanqijingyuan in Lianhua Subdistrict in Futian.
Some elderly people who need postoperative rehabilitation were receiving treatment there. Those with mild dementia, moderate dementia and severe dementia could also enjoy convenient care services at the care home.
As one of the most aging subdistricts in Futian, Lianhua Subdistrict piloted several programs to promote its elderly care services in recent years.
The subdistrict has built Lianhua Subdistrict Elderly Service Center, Kangxin community elderly service station and Yihuayuan housing estate elderly service center.
It has also helped 80 families renovate their homes according to the needs of the elderly to improve their quality of life.
Futian District is taking advantage of the roles of the government, market and social charities to ensure that elderly citizens enjoy basic guarantees from the government and other services from residential communities and nursing institutions.
