With the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival only a few days away, Shenzhen Consumer Council has issued five consumer tips based on the characteristics of holiday consumption and consumer spending trends, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported Thursday.

As the current epidemic situation in foreign countries remains grim, the council reminds consumers to do a good job in personal protection, and do not take risks to travel to medium and high-risk areas. In case of fever, cough and other physical discomforts, they should immediately inform relevant staff or seek medical advice.

Consumers who join any guided tours should choose travel agencies with complete licenses, standardized management and a good reputation, and should consciously avoid very low-priced tours.

When dining out, consumers are advised to choose a proper restaurant. They should check whether the dishes are sold at expressly marked prices and look over the bill before paying.

Online consumption and refund complaints are hot spots during holidays and festivals. It is suggested that consumers choose widely recognized e-commerce platforms that provide guaranteed after-sales service when shopping online.

Consumers should use legal third-party payment platforms and carefully transfer money to individuals, or provide important personal information to others. It is also suggested consumers stay alert to substandard products sold on social media.

Last but not least, consumers should be wary of advance payments and one-off payments that involve a large sum, and carefully check relevant contract clauses.
