Main streets in Shenzhen have been decorated brilliantly with colorful flowers and national flags to celebrate the upcoming National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.

A total of 100,000 national flags have been hoisted along more than 500 roads, including Shennan Boulevard, Beihuan Boulevard, Binhai Boulevard and Qiaoxiang Road, according to the city’s urban management and law enforcement bureau yesterday.

Another 6,500 national flags and nearly 400 lanterns were lifted and hung in 20 public parks across the city.

The Fairy Lake Botanical Garden in Luohu District has created a bamboo-themed landscape while a sea of purple vervains (an herbaceous plant) at Shenzhen Bay Park, which is also equipped with lighting facilities to illuminate, presents breathtaking scenery.

Plant sculptures with 3D-printed sunflowers have been installed on a 22.5-meter-wide street median on Shennan Boulevard near the Futian Long-distance Bus Terminal.

In addition, holiday-themed animations will be screened on the exterior walls of more than 50 commercial buildings, including Diwang Mansion in Luohu District, every night.

More than 1,700 buildings and 200 bridges across the city will also be illuminated from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. today through Oct. 8, the last day of this year’s National Day holiday.
