Science award candidates unveiled

Huang Sanwen, a researcher with Shenzhen Agriculture Genomics Research Institute under the Chinese Academy of Agriculture, and Li Yi, founder and chairman of Shenzhen Appotronics Science and Technology Co., have been chosen as candidates for this year’s Shenzhen Mayor’s Awards.

Liu Lei, president of Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital, has been chosen as a candidate for the special prize of the Mayor’s Awards, according to a list released by the office of the Shenzhen Science and Technology Awards Committee.

Shenzhen Science and Technology Awards has eight categories of awards including Mayor’s Awards, Natural Science Awards, Technology Advancement Awards, Technological Inventions Awards, Youth Awards and Patents Awards. The special prize of the Mayor’s Awards is a newly added, temporary award.

A total of 110 items including the precision optical treatment project based on biomimetic nano-materials by Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology under the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the electronic transmission project of topological matters by Southern University of Science and Technology will be awarded for achievements in the Natural Science category.

Four items including the technologies of efficient real-time coding and reconstruction of ultra-high definition video, jointly developed by Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School and Shenzhen Skyworth RGB Electronic Co. Ltd., will be awarded in the category of Technological Inventions.

Eight people have been chosen as candidates for Youth Awards. They are Chen Jingkang with Shenzhen Arashi Vision Co. Ltd., Chen Lei with Xuyu Optoelectronics (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd., Zeng Xiaowei with Sun Yat-sen University (Shenzhen), Meng Long with Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Zheng Jiaxin with Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, Xu Lei with Shenzhen Audaque Data Technologies Co. Ltd., Wang Xiaoyu with Shenzhen Intellifusion Technologies Co. Ltd. and Huang Yan with Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen).
