The 19th Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP), China’s largest and highest-level gathering of national and international talent, will be held in Shenzhen between April 24 and 25 next year, the organizing committee announced at a press conference at Wuzhou Guest House in Shenzhen on Thursday.

The conference will be in both online and offline forms. The offline event will take place in the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District and cover 75,000 square meters. It will feature an opening ceremony, forums, exhibitions, negotiations and job fairs. The online section will have virtual exhibitions, project matchmakings and online job fairs, according to Liang Yongsheng, director of the Shenzhen Municipal Science and Technology Innovation Commission.

The year of 2021 is the 20th anniversary of CIEP and first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), Lu Ming, a member of the CPC Leading Group of the Ministry of Science and Technology who is also the director of the CIEP organizing committee, said at Thursday’s conference. He called for innovative efforts to make CIEP a great platform for the exchange of international technological achievements and professionals.

Shenzhen Vice Mayor Nie Xinping said CIEP has played an important role in the city’s development.

For Shenzhen Forum, a highlight of the conference, the organizer will invite top scientists, representatives of well-known enterprises and the Guest of Honor country to share insights on multilateral technology cooperation based on mutual benefits and win-win strategies.

The organizer will also invite talent in higher learning institutions, research institutes, professional organizations and enterprises from home and abroad, especially talent and organizations from countries and regions under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership and along the Belt and Road, to bring their projects, technologies and products to the conference.

During the conference, three major job fairs for foreigners, overseas-educated students and high-end professionals will be held.

CIEP was founded in 2001 by the former State Administration of Foreign Affairs, geared at attracting foreign expert organizations, institutions and professionals to the Chinese mainland.

It was halted in 2003 due to the outbreak of SARS.
