Futian offers events for holidaymakers

Futian District will launch as many as 60 activities to encourage citizens to stay put in Shenzhen during the upcoming Spring Festival holiday, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday.

The activities cover various aspects of people’s lives including dining, drinking, entertainment and shopping.

In a proposal, the district calls on citizens to stay in Shenzhen during the holiday and encourages enterprises to give out “red envelopes” and “New Year gift packages” to employees who stay put for the holiday.

Enterprises are also encouraged to reasonably arrange production and stagger annual leave for employees, while restaurants, convenience stores, laundries, barbershops, auto repair shops and car washing stations are encouraged to remain up and running during the holiday.

Futian will give out nearly 2 million festival-themed and customized masks to citizens and those who stay in the district during the holiday, according to the Daily.

The masks are free of charge and the first batch will be distributed at the Party-masses service center in each subdistrict, volunteer service U stations and cinemas in the district.

Futian will also launch an art festival with the theme of celebrating the Spring Festival to keep citizens entertained.

A total of 32 performances for audiences of all ages will be staged with affordable ticket prices in Shenzhen Concert Hall, Shenzhen Grand Theater and Futian District Public Cultural and Sports Development Center from Feb. 12 to March 8.

Additionally, more than 500 flower stalls will be set up in the 10 subdistricts in Futian to make it easier for citizens to purchase flowers for home decorations during the holiday. The stalls will be open from Thursday (Feb. 4) to Feb. 11.

The district has also teamed up with online e-commerce platforms like eleme.com and the Freshippo app to make flower shopping available online.
