Recently, a batch of LED screens were exported from Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport to the U.K., with customs inspection waived because the products were shipped under a trade facilitation arrangement.

This marks Shenzhen airport’s partnership with Qianhai Comprehensive Bonded Zone for foreign trade in cargo transportation service, sources from the airport said Sunday.

Under the joint mechanism, cargo forwarders can complete all import or export customs clearance at Qianhai Comprehensive Bonded Zone. Once at the airport, cargo can directly board the plane bypassing on-site customs check. This is expected to make customs and air cargo services more efficient.

The joint mechanism will provide highly efficient customs clearance for export-oriented brands like Huawei, ZTE and DJI. According to the airport, this will also streamline domestic and international supply chains and upgrade the global value chain. This has given the airport improvements in its multimodel transportation business, customs clearance efficiency and cross-border trade.

In 2020, the airport’s cargo throughput reached 1.4 million tons, up by 9 percent year on year and making the global top 20 for the first time.
