The first Glow Shenzhen Forum was held Wednesday, where global light artists and professionals from the lighting technology industry discussed topics on light art and how it can help the city to boost the night economy.

Zhou Yaowei with the Shenzhen Municipal Urban Administration and Law Enforcement Bureau said that the first Glow Shenzhen 2020, a grand light festival, became a highlight of the Chinese New Year as it attracted many residents staying put in the city during the holiday.

Jian Zheng, deputy director of the municipal commerce bureau, said at the forum that the first light festival brought together art, business and consumption.

Jian hoped that high-tech companies in Shenzhen can make full use of their advantages as well as light art to achieve greater success in the global market.

During the forum, rewards were also given to excellent light artworks to encourage more artists to participate in using technologies and art to light up urban space.

Two studios, namely Radugadesign from Russia and ENESS from Australia, won the gold medal for their light artworks.

The municipal urban management authority will continue holding light art events to add more artistic elements to the city’s public space and to help boost the development of the night economy in Shenzhen.
