Meaning:

“过劳” means “overwork,” and “肥” means “obesity.” Derived from the Japanese term “karoshi,” which means “death from overwork,” this term literally means “overwork-induced obesity.” The reasons behind this phenomenon are that people who spend too much time at work in the office lack exercise, eat unhealthily, suffer from sleep deprivation and sometimes go stress eating.

Example:

A: 怎么感觉你最近长胖了?

Zěnme gǎnjué nǐ zuìjìn zhǎng pàng le?

Why did you gain weight lately?

B: 我这是过劳肥。最近加班太多,压力大,吃得多又没空去健身房。

Wǒ zhèshì guòláoféi。Zuìjìn jiābān tài duō,yālì dà,chī de duō yòu méikòng qù jiànshēnfáng。

I guess I gained some weight due to overwork. I’ve been doing a lot of overtime lately, so I stress eat, and I also got no time to go to the gym.
