SZ Qipao Show to be performed in Dubai Expo

A news conference and launch ceremony for Shenzhen Qipao Show, which will be performed in the Expo 2020 Dubai, were held at the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area World Model Life Experience Base in Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, on Friday.

The traditional Chinese dress show is organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shenzhen Municipal Committee (CCPIT Shenzhen) and Miss Model of the World International Organization (MMWIO).

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact, the Expo 2020 Dubai’s start date was postponed to Oct. 1, 2021 and will go through until March 31, 2022.

The Expo is anticipated by many to be a significant international event which will attract exhibitors from over 190 countries, regions and international organizations. The number of visitors is estimated to be around 25 million. China Pavilion houses Shenzhen in a city exhibition and the city has been preparing since late last year.

As part of the exhibition of Shenzhen, the city’s qipao show, organized by MMWIO and Shenzhen Zhongyi Anna International Media Group, is predicted to be a magnet for audiences. The Shenzhen-based fashion company is authorized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Anna, chief planner and general director of Shenzhen Qipao Show, said at the ceremony that they will strive to ensure a spectacular array of traditional Chinese dress will be displayed in the Expo. The selection, training and rehearsal of the models will begin prior to the ceremony.

Feng Yaoxiang, head of the investment and promotion department for CCPIT, said that the qipao show is a creative way to showcase Chinese traditional culture and attire and to present Shenzhen as a pilot demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics to the world.

Wu You, deputy secretary general of the Shenzhen Municipal Government, said that holding the show helps promote the internationalization, modernization, energy, charm and innovation of Shenzhen.
