Shenzhen Metro Group is showcasing five trains with drawings around the theme of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Lines 1, 2, 5, 7 and 11, offering riders a glimpse into the achievements that China has made under the leadership of the CPC, which will mark its centenary July 1.

The five trains on the five lines made a debut yesterday and will operate for about one month.

The six carriages of each of the five trains were decorated with hand-drawn illustrations with the themes of Centenary Great Cause, Comprehensive National Strength, Science Strength, National Defense Strength, Culture Influence and International Influence.

"I was in a festive mood when walking into the train. The drawings showed history of the CPC and prosperity of the motherland," a passenger surnamed Yang said.

The first carriage started with the drawings of the site of the first National Congress of the CPC in Shanghai and the Red Boat in Jiaxing, eastern China's Zhejiang Province, where the congress concluded and passed resolutions calling for the establishment of the CPC in 1921.

The second carriage showed the elevation of China's national strength through Shenzhen landmarks and the city's prosperity and pioneering spirit.

The third carriage shows China's scientific strength through drawings of China's Martian rover Zhurong and domestically built C919 passenger plane.

The fourth carriage presents China's national defense capabilities through drawings of the Liaoning aircraft carrier and Type-99A main battle tank.

The fifth carriage shows Chinese cultural symbols like operas, tea and chime bells, to remind busy commuters to spare more time appreciating Chinese traditional culture and history.

The sixth carriage shows China's international influence with spectacular pictures like ocean liners that signify China's contribution to international trade, Olympic torches and the National Stadium that symbolize Chinese spirit in sports, and the Long March rocket that stands for China's contribution to aerospace.

"The drawings have strong visual impact and I was very surprised when I stepped into the carriage," said a passenger surnamed Gao. A rider surnamed Lou thought the decorations on the trains bring riders into a festive mood for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the CPC.

Besides the special trains, Shenzhen Metro Group also opened a CPC-themed exhibition at Futian Station yesterday to celebrate the anniversary. The exhibition will last for one month.
