A new leisure space at Honghu Park in Luohu District officially opened to the public yesterday.

The leisure space, located on Hexian Island in Honghu Park, covers an area of roughly 700 square meters and is composed of four functional areas including a small library, lecture room, nature education center and exhibition hall.

Visitors can look out of the leisure space’s French windows to admire a lotus lake covering over 20,000 square meters and birds. In addition, visitors can read books, experience cultural activities or just take a rest.

During yesterday’s opening ceremony at the leisure space, public institutions and firms including Shenzhen Children’s Library, Shenzhen Honghu Primary School and Shenzhen Shuibei Industrial Incorporated Co. signed a contract with the city’s park management center, an agency under the Shenzhen Municipal Urban Management and Law Enforcement Bureau.

In the future, they will cooperate to hold different cultural activities and introduce resources to provide more colorful cultural experiences to residents, said Liang Zhiyu, deputy director of the city’s park management center.

The space opens from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, according to the temporary operation plan. No reservation is needed at the moment, but when the number of visitors surpasses 80, park management will control visitor flow.
