A total of 19 Shenzhen enterprises have officially made it onto the list of the sixth batch of national-level champions in individual manufacturing fields, a source from the Shenzhen Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau told Shenzhen Daily on Wednesday.

In the list jointly released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and China Federation of Industrial Economics, Shenzhen has the greatest number of manufacturing champions among the country’s major cities.

Up to now, Shenzhen has nurtured a total of 47 such champions, ranking second among all Chinese cities and accounting for 50 percent of the provincial total.

TCL, Skyworth, Transsion and 16 other Shenzhen enterprises in this year’s list have obtained advanced global technologies and possess core competitiveness in niche segments, according to the municipal industry and information technology bureau. Ten of them have global flagship products that ranked No. 1 globally for three consecutive years in terms of market share.

The average profit margin of the flagship products of these listed enterprises reached 12 percent, which is much higher than the industry’s average.

In the last three years, these companies’ main business revenues have increased by 24.2 percent on average, with average profit growth of 267.5 percent.

These figures were credited to the companies’ large R&D investments in terms of expenditure, staffing and patents, according to Chen Rongbing, an official from the bureau.

Chen said that Shenzhen is striving to cultivate more manufacturing champions by giving full play to its fair business environment, complete industrial chains, strong technological innovation capacity and a slew of government subsidies.
