The color red dominates everywhere during Chinese New Year, which will fall on Feb. 1 this year. Red indicates happiness, passion, hope, vitality and good luck. Chinese people love red and believe the color will bring in good fortune and scare away evil spirits. Some even add new red clothes to their Spring Festival wardrobe.

Shenzhen has kicked off the holiday vibe in all shades of red like lanterns, couplets and paper cuttings to adorn its streets, markets, shopping malls and resident homes.
