Nanshan District has tightened its anti-COVID measures by designating a lockdown area, a control area and a COVID-19 prevention area in Shekou Subdistrict on Sunday, according to a notice issued by the district’s COVID-19 prevention and control headquarters office yesterday.

The move came after a trucker from Hong Kong who was tested positive for COVID-19 was found to have violated epidemic prevention rules, the office said in the notice, without elaborating.

The district has designated Building 5 in Yonglexincun as a lockdown area, where residents must stay at home and door-to-door delivery service is provided.

Apart from Building 5, other buildings in Yonglexincun were designated as the control area, where residents must stay in the residential compound and avoid gatherings.

Shekou’s COVID-19 prevention area is the area starting and ending at Shekou New Street, encompassing Wanxia, Huaguo, Zhaoshang East, Airong, Gongye Seventh and Houhaibin roads. Gatherings are strictly limited in the prevention area with anti-COVID measures in place.

Separately, exhibition halls 1 and 2, as well as the south square of Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in Bao’an District will be used as a transfer station for cross-border cargo transportation, and the requisition period is expected to be one month, according to the announcement issued by the center’s operator yesterday.

During the period, the area will be subject to closed management. After the requisition is completed, the area will be officially opened to the public after thorough disinfection.

Bao’an’s leisure venues, which had been temporarily closed, resumed operations yesterday, except those in Shiyan Subdistrict, according to a notice issued by the district’s COVID-19 prevention and control headquarters office.

Indoor leisure venues, including spas, beauty and hair salons, tea houses, chess and card rooms, mahjong rooms, internet cafes, bars, theaters, cinemas, gyms, and swimming pools, are allowed to reopen in accordance with safety guidelines, as per the notice.

In addition, the outpatient and emergency services, and nucleic acid testing services at Futian District Maternity & Child Healthcare Hospital resumed at 2 p.m. yesterday, after hours of suspension, according to the hospital.

Shenzhen reported six new locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases and an asymptomatic patient Sunday, according to the city’s health commission.
