Shenzhen residents are advised to bring their physical or digital ID cards, residence cards or permanent residence permits when they go to take nucleic acid tests, according to a notice issued by the city government yesterday.

The decision was made early yesterday after some people were found using screenshots of other people’s Yuekang code, or Guangdong health code, when having their samples collected.

The Yueliangwan Community Workstation in Nanshan District found two people, surnamed Li and Huang, suspected of taking nucleic acid tests for two other truck drivers in a recent test. The four have been handed to the police for investigation.

Starting from Monday, the city initiated three rounds of mass nucleic acid tests and has required everyone in the city to complete the tests within the week. Those who don’t participate in the mandatory nucleic acid tests will be fined 200 yuan (US$31.37) to 1,000 yuan if they fail to correct their behavior as requested by the police department. In serious circumstances, violators will be fined 500 yuan, detained 5-10 days and charged with jeopardizing public safety.

If they cause the spread of COVID-19, they may face up to three years in jail for hindering infectious disease prevention.
