Shenzhen will introduce a package of financial relief measures as soon as possible to bail out businesses experiencing difficulties in its latest resurgence of COVID-19, according to a press conference held by the city government’s information office yesterday.

Huang Qiang, deputy secretary-general of the Shenzhen Municipal Government, said that Shenzhen will continue to increase policy support, optimize business environment, and coordinate epidemic prevention and control and socioeconomic development in response to the economic fallout caused by the latest COVID resurgence.

According to Huang, Shenzhen will implement various steps to boost assistance for micro and small-sized businesses, including allowing deferred, reduced and refund payments of rent, taxes, social insurance, housing provident fund, utility bills and other expenses.

Shenzhen has formed working groups at the district and municipal levels and adopted tailored policies to assist key enterprises in overcoming difficulties in production and operation, Huang said.

In addition, the city has taken advantage of the “深i企” platform to respond to enterprises’ requests and keep track of their labor, production, raw materials and financing challenges.

Li Zhidong, director of the General Office of the Futian District Government, said that the district has also introduced a slew of policies, including rent reduction and low-interest loans, to help local firms reduce operational expenses and losses.

Starting from yesterday, enterprises in Futian can log on to the district’s enterprise service intelligent system platform or the “i福田” WeChat miniprogram to learn more about the application rules for relevant subsidies and funds.

According to Li, Futian is Shenzhen’s central urban area, with a high concentration of headquarters enterprises and supply chain companies. The district will provide full support and assistance to enterprises north of Binhe Road in resuming operations.

For supply chain companies in the area south of Binhe Road, east of Qiaocheng East Road and west of Hongling South Road, which has not yet achieved “dynamic zero infection,” Li said the district has implemented closed-loop management while guiding enterprises to restart production.
