Shenzhen's senior high schools have formulated anti-pandemic measures and disinfected campuses thoroughly to prepare for 10th and 11th grade students’ return Friday after over a month of online learning due to the city’s recent wave of the pandemic.
The city’s education authority announced in a statement over the weekend that 10th and 11th grade students will return to campuses for face-to-face learning starting Friday.
Ninth grade students and senior university students will return to school Monday while other university students will return April 18.
Nantou High School in Nanshan District said it has notified its 10th and 11th grade students and their family members to complete nucleic acid tests for three consecutive days before Friday and report health information to acquire an electronic permit to return to the school.
These 10th and 11th grade students are required to present both the electronic permit and negative 24-hour nucleic acid test results when they enter the campus Friday.
Moreover, the school has ensured sufficient anti-pandemic materials are available and conducted drills ahead of the opening day to guarantee students’ safety, learn about students’ difficulties and provide psychological assistance if needed, according to Tan Xingguang, principal of Nantou High School.
Shenzhen Jianwen Foreign Language School in Longgang District held a meeting Monday for the arrangement of works ahead of the students’ return. During the Qingming Festival, the school disinfected and ventilated classrooms, and stocked enough anti-pandemic materials.
As of press time yesterday, the opening day for students in other grades including kindergarten had not been set, but should not be earlier than Friday, according to the statement. Schools across the city have notified students and parents to prepare to return to school.
Students in their final year of senior high school have been put under closed-off management since their return to schools Feb. 21. Fourth graders to sophomores in senior high school started taking online lessons Feb. 21.
