Meaning:
“被” is a marker for passive voice, and “内涵” literally means “connotation.” This term coined by Chinese netizens refers to the scenario where you sense that someone uses a cryptic way to hint at your weakness or fault and you find it mildly offensive. However, as this term has recently grown to be very popular, some people also use it jokingly when talking with their close friends, perhaps not really feeling offended.
Example:
A: 有所大学男生打女生被警察带走了，为什么很多评论留言提到另一所学校？
Yǒu suǒ dàxué nánshēng dǎ nǚshēng bèi jǐngchá dàizǒu le，wèishénme hěnduō pínglùn liúyán tídào lìngyīsuǒ xuéxiào？
A college boy was taken away by the police after he hit a girl in his school. Why did so many people leave comments after the post referring to another school?
