Kiara Lynn Garcia Hernandez from the U.S. learned making zongzi from Zhang Zhangmei, the fifth-generation inheritor of the Nan’ao sea urchin zongzi cooking techniques, in an activity to mark the Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on June 3 this year. Nan’ao sea urchin zongzi cooking techniques, with a 200-year history, were listed a city-level intangible cultural heritage in 2021.
