Shenzhen reported one locally transmitted confirmed case of COVID-19 and eight asymptomatic infections Sunday, with one case discovered in a high-risk area for COVID-19 and two in medium-risk areas, the municipal health commission said yesterday.

The other six cases were found in routine COVID testing among workers in key industries, screenings of close contacts of previously reported COVID patients, community screenings and screenings of key workers under closed-loop management.

Futian District designated specific high-, medium- and low-risk areas for COVID-19 in Fubao Subdistrict yesterday and Sunday after new COVID cases were found in the subdistrict.

Similarly, Luohu District on Sunday designated specific high-, medium- and low-risk areas in Huangbei and Guiyuan subdistricts and adjusted such risk areas in Liantang Subdistrict yesterday and Sunday.

Nanshan District designated high-, medium- and low-risk areas in Xili Subdsitrict yesterday, while specific risk areas were adjusted in Yuehai Subdistrict.

According to China’s ninth and latest prevention and control guideline for COVID-19, high-, medium- and low-risk areas are designated in counties, cities, districts and banners that have COVID cases.

In a high-risk area, residents are required to stay at home, and door-to-door delivery service and nucleic acid testing service are provided.

If there are no new COVID cases in a high-risk area for seven consecutive days, it will be lowered to medium risk if on the seventh day, after completing a round of nucleic acid testing, all residents’ test results come back negative.

The area will be further lowered to a low-risk area if there are no new COVID cases in the area for three days running.

Residents in a medium-risk area must stay in the residential compound and pick up deliveries at staggered hours. COVID tests must be taken daily.

If there are no new COVID cases in a medium-risk area for seven consecutive days, it will be lowered to low risk if on the seventh day, after completing a round of nucleic acid testing, all residents’ test results come back negative.

In a low-risk area, residents are required to take protective measures and avoid gatherings. COVID tests must be taken daily. It is suggested that residents in the area avoid traveling unless necessary and present negative 48-hour COVID test results for inter-city travel.

In another development, Shenzhen People’s Hospital issued a notice yesterday, saying that it would suspend its fever clinic service until further notice.

Fairy Lake Botanical Garden also said it would stop receiving visitors from Sunday to today due to epidemic prevention and control.
