The School of Medicine of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) recently signed an agreement with Medical Intelligence 10 (MI10) in the U.S. to jointly design medical education curricula featuring intelligent medicine.
The agreement means that CUHK-Shenzhen School of Medicine has become the first medical school in the country and Asia to integrate MedEd2030 model designed by MI10 to strengthen artificial intelligence (AI) in medical education, according to CUHK-Shenzhen.
MedEd2030 is a new look at medical education that is focused on 10 key areas including AI and human cognition, virtual health and monitoring devices, emerging technologies and new sciences.
The two sides will jointly formulate the medical education curricula, based on current curriculum arrangement and talent cultivation goals of CUHK-Shenzhen School of Medicine as well as MedEd2030. The course design will also center around six key words — inspiration, innovation, implementation, integration, impact and international.
CUHK-Shenzhen School of Medicine hopes to introduce its teaching models and systems to the world and attract more prominent teachers to join in the school’s curriculum construction of intelligent medical education.
With the rapid development of biomedicine, life sciences and information technology, new technologies and new models are also being integrated to promote and affect the quality of global life and health at an unprecedented speed.
The role of AI was highlighted in a report titled “Global Strategy on Digital Health 2020-2025” that was published by World Health Organization. According to the report, AI has a potential in improving global health care and access to medicines and will safeguard public health and medical practices.
MI10 is a medical AI consulting company composed of several of the world’s top medical experts, data scientists and AI entrepreneurs.
Anthony Chang, founder of MI10, is one of the world’s top cardiologists and an AI expert at Stanford University School of Medicine. MI10 was named one of the top 10 medical consulting companies in the U.S. in 2021.
