25 local private enterprises enter top 500

Shenzhen took the lead in Guangdong Province with 25 private enterprises entering the China Top 500 Private Companies for 2022 list, according to a report released by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce last week.

Four companies from Shenzhen, namely Amer, Huawei, Tencent and Vanke, took the fourth, fifth, sixth and ninth places among the 500 enterprises.

A total of 51 enterprises from Guangdong entered the China Top 500 Private Companies for 2022, whose entry threshold reached 26.4 billion yuan (US$3.79 billion) in operating revenue for the fiscal year 2021, an increase of 2.9 billion yuan, data showed.

Forty-nine enterprises from Guangdong entered the China Top 500 Manufacturing Companies list, with 45% of them coming from Shenzhen.

Amer and Huawei took the second and third places among the top 500 manufacturing companies.

Eighteen Guangdong companies entered the China Top 100 service enterprises, with 10 coming from Shenzhen. Tencent, Vanke and SF Express took the third, fifth and 10th places.

In terms of technological innovation, Huawei remained on top with 142.7 billion yuan in R&D investment. Among the top 500 private firms, 288 have research and development staffers who account for more than 3% of the total workforce.

The list showed that 19 private companies achieved revenue over 300 billion yuan. Internet and service company JD.com ranked first with 951.59 billion yuan in 2021.

According to the report, the top 500 private enterprises provided over 10.9 million jobs, accounting for 1.47% of the nation’s workers. Total revenue of the top 500 private companies in 2021 hit 38.32 trillion yuan, up 9.13% year on year, and their tax payments reached 1.37 trillion yuan, accounting for 7.91% of China’s total tax revenue.
