The routes consist of eight circular routes like B896, B887 and B898 in Longgang, B613 in Longhua, B932 and B936 in Bao’an, and two other routes such as B933 linking Yanshan Bus Station and Songgang Metro Station, and the rush hour bus 135 running between Liuxian Second Road Bus Station and Taohuayuan Science and Technology Innovation Park, sources from the city’s transport bureau said yesterday.

The bureau started to organize activities yesterday to promote using public transport. The activities will cover Car Free Day, which will fall on Thursday, and will run through Sunday.

Three major bus operators – Shenzhen Bus Group, Eastern Bus Group and Western Bus Group — open red traveling routes today, introducing passengers to the city’s old revolutionary sites.

A science popularization activity will be held tomorrow to introduce Car Free Day and the city’s public transport development. During Car Free Day, discounts will be given to some routes and shared bikes. Surveys and lotteries will be held to further raise residents’ awareness on taking public transportation and low-carbon commuting.

On Friday, activities on proper public transportation behavior will be held. The bus and Metro operators will invite residents to visit their safety demonstration bases and experience their intelligent facilities.

Shenzhen Metro Group and HKMTR (Shenzhen) Co. will organize open day and in-carriage exhibitions over the weekend to promote green commuting and increase residents’ environmental protection awareness.
