Para Edcia Alejandra Alcocer Carpio, profesora de español, Shenzhen es una ciudad que tiene mucha diversidad de colores y sabores en un solo lugar, una ciudad de infinitas combinaciones para cada gusto. 

For Spanish teacher Edcia Alejandra Alcocer Carpio, Shenzhen is a city with everything in one place, a city that has an infinite number of combinations for every taste.

对于西班牙语教师Edcia Alejandra Alcocer Carpio来说，深圳是一座多姿多彩的城市，这里拥有无限可能。

“Después de una larga semana de trabajo, uno dice: ‘Me agotó Shenzhen, necesito de un respiro’ pero nos referimos al constante movimiento de la ciudad, por el contrario uno no puede decir que no hay cosas que hacer en Shenzhen, porque la gran gama de actividades están siempre disponibles los 7 días de la semana, como una paleta de colores,” dijo Alcocer.

“After a long week of work, one may say: ‘I feel tired of Shenzhen, I need a break,’ but here we are talking about the non-stop moving of the city. You can’t say there is nothing to do in Shenzhen, because there is an infinity of things available for seven days of the week, like a colorful paint palette,” Alcocer said. 

“忙碌完一周的工作后，有人可能会觉得：‘我累了，深圳，让我歇会喘口气。’这座城市永不停歇，但从不无聊，因为这里每天都有各种各样多姿多彩的活动。” Alcocer说道。

La señorita, con un nombre larguísimo, viene de Bolivia, un país situado en el corazón de Sudamérica. “Los habitantes chinos me han impresionado de sobremanera por el hecho de conocer a mi país Bolivia, por un atractivo turístico natural reconocido, el majestuoso Salar de Uyuni, pero no así guiados por el nombre de Bolivia, yo con mi básico conocimiento del idioma local pronuncio: bō lì wéi yà, y aún así no lo reconocen por nombre ni ubicación. Sin embargo les digo el Salar, y ellos inmediatamente exclaman: ‘¡Ay sí! ¡El espejo de sal! ¡El espejo de sal!’” contó la boliviana, “Lo cual me pone muy contenta.” 

This lady with a very long name hails from Bolivia, a country located in the heart of South America. “Chinese people have impressed me a lot, because they know my country by the well-known natural tourist site, the majestic Salar de Uyuni, instead of the name of Bolivia. With my basic knowledge of Chinese, I say: bō lì wéi yà, and they don’t know exactly where to locate it. However, when I say the Salar de Uyuni, they will exclaim: ‘Oh yes! The salt mirror! The salt mirror!’” she said, “which makes me very happy.”

这位名字超长的女士来自玻利维亚，一个位于南美洲中部的国家。“在中国，有一件事让我挺震惊的，大多数人不知道我的国家，但他们却知道乌尤尼盐湖这个有名的自然景点。当我用蹩脚的中文跟他们说玻利维亚这么名字时，他们不知道这个国家到底在哪里。但我一说乌尤尼盐湖，他们就会兴奋地说：‘啊！天空之境！天空之镜！’”她说道，“这让我很开心。”

Alcocer viene de una familia tradicional en una ciudad que se llama Cochabamba en Bolivia. Está ubicada en un pequeño valle de clima templado en el centro del país Bolivia. Una vez graduada de la Universidad contaba con un trabajo de servicio al cliente de una empresa internacional, un empleo estable donde normalmente uno culmina hasta su retiro. 

Alcocer comes from a traditional family in a city called Cochabamba in Bolivia. It’s located in a small valley with a temperate climate in the center of the country. After graduation, she had a customer service job for an international company, a stable job that people normally take and stay with until they retire.

Alcocer来自科恰班巴市一个非常传统的家庭。这座城市位于玻利维亚中部的一个小山谷，气候温和。毕业后，她在一家跨国企业从事客户服务工作。这是一份稳定的工作，通常人们都会在这样稳定的职位上工作到退休。

Alcocer接受英文《深圳日报》采访

Ella había trabajado en ese puesto por aproximadamente cinco años hasta 2013. Una mañana, ella decidió salir de esa rutina, “Yo estaba en el trabajo repitiendo el mismo proceso rutinario día a día y en ese momento, vi la necesidad de hacer un cambio, sin saber por donde empezar, ni hacia donde mirar, lo único que tenía claro, era que necesitaba salir de ese círculo.” recordó ella.

She had worked in that position for around five years until 2013. Then, one morning, she decided to get out of this routine, “I was at work repeating the same routine day after day and at that moment, I saw the need to make a change, without knowing where to start or where to look at. The only thing that was clear to me was that I needed to get out of that cycle,” she recalled.

她在那个职位上工作了五年左右。2013年的一个早上，她决定摆脱这种常规的生活方式。“我在那份工作上日复一日重复同样的流程，我感觉我需要做出改变，虽然我不知道从何下手，也不知道望向何处，但我知道我需要跳出这个循环。”她回忆道。

Después de buscar opciones y hablar con mucha gente, Alcocer sabía que mucha gente en su país en ese entonces venía a China para hacer negocios y les iba bien en general. Entonces, decidió venir a probar suerte. 

After looking for options and talking to many people, Alcocer knew that at that time many people in her country were coming to China to do business and they were doing well in general. So, she decided to come and try her luck.

Alcocer当时想了各种可能，也跟很多人交流。她了解到，在当时，有很多玻利维亚人来中国做生意，做得还不错，所以她决定来中国试试。

“Pues dije, primero voy a ver qué pasa como turista y a conocer un poco el movimiento, conocer lugares y ver cuál es la metodología que uno utiliza y la logística para hacer este trabajo,” dijo la boliviana.

“Well, I said, first, I’m going to see what happens as a tourist and to know a little bit and see the methodology one utilizes and the logistics used to do this work,” the Bolivian said.

“我对自己说，好吧，我先去看一看，了解一下，看看这项工作怎么运作。”Alcocer说道。

Llegó a Shenzhen directamente en 2013. “El momento de pisar Shenzhen, después de una corta estancia en Hong Kong, estaba impresionada por la tecnología, lo nuevo y limpio que Shenzhen abría sus puertas ante mis ojos, a pesar que en el 2013 no se compara con el crecimiento de hoy en día.” 

She came to Shenzhen directly in 2013. “When I set foot in Shenzhen, after a short stay in Hong Kong, I was impressed by the technology, and how new and clean Shenzhen was, although Shenzhen in 2013 was not as developed as it is now.”

2013年她来到了深圳。“在香港短暂停留后，我踏上了深圳的土地。深圳向我打开了它的大门，虽然2013年的深圳没有现在这样发达，但是这里的高科技、干净崭新的一切都深深地印在了我的脑海。”

Se quedó varios meses aquí, visitando diferentes lugares e investigando sobre el tema de negocios. A ella le gustó mucho Shenzhen y China en general y regresó en varias ocaciones posteriores. Al final el tema de negocios nunca se puso en práctica. “Mi conocimiento en el tema no era suficiente para hacer un análisis del mercadeo y no quise arriesgarme,” dijo Alcocer.

She stayed here for several months, visiting different places and researching business themes. She really liked Shenzhen and China in general and returned several times afterwards. But in the end, she didn’t do business. “I didn’t have enough knowledge on this subject to make a market analysis and I didn’t want to take the risk,” Alcocer said.

她在这里呆了几个月，参观了不同的地方，调查了做生意相关的事项。她非常喜欢深圳和整个中国，后来又来过几次。但最后，她还是没有做生意。“我没有足够的相关知识储备，所以我不想冒这个险。” Alcocer说。

Aun así, después de muchas idas y venidas, incluso una vez trabajando un tiempo corto aquí en Shenzhen, Alcocer se mudó a Shenzhen en agosto, 2019, para tomar el puesto de profesora de español, y sigue hasta el día de hoy. 

Still, after many twists and turns, including one time working for a short period in Shenzhen, Alcocer moved to the city in August 2019 for a Spanish teaching job and has stayed ever since.

此后Alcocer还多次前往中国，有一次还在深圳工作过一段短暂时间，最终在2019年8月，她决定定居深圳，从事西班牙语教学，并一直待到现在。

Para Alcocer, lo de aceptar el trabajo y volver a Shenzhen fue como una llamada del destino. De hecho, la escuela donde trabaja actualmente le había preguntado tres veces si aceptaba el puesto en diferentes ocasiones. Ella tuvo que declinar dichas propuestas porque ya tenía otros planes.

For Alcocer, accepting the job and coming to Shenzhen was like a call from destiny. In fact, the school where she currently works for had asked her thrice if she would accept the position on different occasions. She had to decline the first two times because she already had other plans.

对于Alcocer来说，接受这份工作并来到深圳就像命运的安排一样。事实上，她目前工作所在的学校前后三次询问过她是否愿意接受这份工作。前两次她都婉拒了，因为那时候她已经有了其他安排。

Alcocer trabaja con niños de primaria, desde el primer grado hasta tercer grado. Le gusta mucho trabajar con niños pequeños. Por diferencias culturales, experimentó un golpe muy duro sobre todo el lado sentimental, por ejemplo, en China la gente no tiene contacto al momento de saludar o despedirse de alguien, como la gente en su país o América Latina en general; y también el hecho de extrañar mucho a su familia y a su comida.

Alcocer works with primary school students, from first to third grade. She really enjoys working with young children. Due to cultural differences, she experienced a very hard blow on sentimentality because Chinese people do not greet or say goodbye to each other as warmly as those in her country or in Latin America in general. She also missed her family and the food of her country a lot.

Alcocer教一年级到三年级的小学生。她非常喜欢与孩子一起工作。由于文化差异，她在人际交往方式上有些不适应，因为中国人不像拉美的人们那样热情地相互问候和告别。此外，她非常想念她的家人和家乡菜。

“Me ha ayudado mucho el trabajar con niños de primaria, porque ellos me brindan ese calor humano sincero en una sonrisa, un abrazo en cada muestra de cariño que ellos siempre tienen para conmigo y hacen que ese vacío familiar sea más llevadero,” contó Alcocer.

“Working with primary school kids has helped me a lot because they give me that sincere human warmth with a smile, a hug, showing their affection for me and making the lack of family love and care more bearable,” she said.

“我的工作是跟小学生打交道，这对我来说有很大帮助，因为孩子们真诚的微笑和温暖的拥抱让我感受到了他们的爱，这大大缓解了我对家人的想念。”Alcocer说道。

Otro choque inolvidable ha sido una experiencia agradable en China para ella. “La primera anécdota en mis primeros días en China fue muy cómica. Yo llegaba de vivir una vida en Bolivia y en Suramérica, que yo adoro con todo el corazón sin embargo el tema de seguridad ciudadana no es de las mejores, y leí que la seguridad social en China era destacable, algo que me gustó y llamó mucho la atención en ese momento. Pero aún así, mi lado latino de cuidar mucho mis pertenencias seguía latente. Ya a través del tiempo fui relajándome más. A la fecha yo ya me acostumbré a dejar mi celular y mis cosas por todo lado y yo sé que no les va pasar nada, un proceso de adaptación muy positivo.”

For her, another unforgettable culture shock has been a pleasant experience in China. “The first anecdote that I had when I first came to China was very funny. I came from Bolivia and South America, which I love wholeheartedly, but the social situation there is not the best, and I read that in China it´s very safe, which attracted my attention and I liked very much. However, my Latin instinct of taking good care of my belongings was still there. As time went by, I gradually got used to it and felt more relaxed. Now I am used to leaving my cell phone and my things everywhere and I know that nothing will happen to them, which is a positive adaptation.”

对她来说，在中国另一个难以忘怀的文化冲击其实是一个愉快的经历。“我刚来中国时有一件很有趣的事，我来自玻利维亚，南美地区，虽然我很热爱我们的土地，但是，在南美社会治安不是很好，所以当时我得知中国治安很好时，我很开心。但刚来这里时，我那拉美人时刻保护随身物品的本能提醒我时刻保持警惕。然而，随着时间推移，渐渐地我淡定放松了下来。现在我习惯把手机和其他东西随手一放，因为我知道很安全，不会丢。但这是我这几年在这里生活后才了解到的。”

Contó que la primera vez que llegó a China, estaba hablando por teléfono y escuchó correr alguien por detrás. “Mi primer instinto latino fue agarrar mi celular con todas mis fuerzas contra mi cuerpo, porque uno aprende a tener estas reacciones en Sudamérica, en mi país. O sea, uno se aferra al móvil si alguien corre de repente cerca de uno, porque siente que le van a robar,” dijo Alcocer, añadiendo que la seguridad social en China ha sido una de las cosas más bonitas que le tocó experimentar. 

She said that the first time she came to China, she was talking on the phone and heard someone running from behind. “My first Latin instinct was to clutch my cell phone with all my strength against my body, because we learn to react in this way in South America, or in my country. I mean, you grab the phone tightly if someone suddenly runs nearby, because you feel like they are going to steal it,” Alcocer said, adding that the security in China has been one of the nicest things.

Alcocer说她刚来中国时，有一次用手机接电话，然后听到有人在后面跑。“作为一个拉美人，我的第一反应是用尽力气抓紧手机并藏到胸前，因为在南美，在我们的国家，在这种情况下我们是这样子反应的。如果有人跑到旁边，你会紧紧抓住手机，因为你会觉得手机很可能会被抢。”Alcocer说道。她表示，在中国一切都很安全，这是她最喜欢的一个方面。

Vivir en China le ha cambiado mucho la perspectiva a Alcocer. “En el colegio, y el conocimiento en general que teníamos de China, era la capital, Beijing; los famosos osos pandas; que la gente se dedica a la cosecha del arroz; y que se utilizan los sombreros grandes de cosecha, por mencionar entre los datos mas curiosos. Y no conocíamos más a detalle nada. Las reformas de Deng Xiaoping abrieron y cambiaron sin duda una China de antes y después.”

Living in China has really changed Alcocer’s perspective. “In school, or the general knowledge we had about China, was the capital Beijing; the famous pandas; people grow rice; they wear the big harvest hats. And we didn’t know more. The reforms of Deng Xiaoping without doubt opened and changed China totally.”

在中国生活后，Alcocer的观点发生了很大变化。“在学校里，或者说我们对中国的认识，基本上就是首都北京；大熊猫；中国人种植水稻；农民戴很大的帽子。其他的事情我们完全不了解。毫无疑问，邓小平带领下的改革开放彻彻底底改变了中国。”

“El libro de texto y la realidad con la que me encontré eran diferentes, yo me dije: ‘Dios mío! Esto no es lo que me han contado! Esto no estaba en el libro.’” dijo Alcocer.

“What it said in the textbook and what I encountered in China were totally different. And I said: ‘God, this isn’t what I was told! This wasn't in the book,’” Alcocer said.

“当我来到这里，我发现一切跟我们书本里写的完全不同。我对自己说：‘我的天！这跟我认知中的中国不一样。’你看到全然不同的景象。”Alcocer说道。

Le encanta mucho vivir en Shenzhen. “Uno encuentra contrastes muy lindos en esta ciudad. Es muy versátil y energética. Shenzhen es muy avanzada, tecnológicamente hablando, por donde uno vaya está limpio, todo nuevo, cada momento uno se encuentra con renovaciones y nuevas construcciones, siempre en movimiento. Al mismo tiempo cuenta con atractivos naturales para poder disfrutar de un fin de semana tranquilo rodeado de la naturaleza. Uno no tiene que viajar por horas para disfrutar de una buena caminata, o para ir a un picnic, lo tenemos todo muy accesible.”

She loves living in Shenzhen very much. “There are very nice contrasts in Shenzhen. It’s a very diverse and dynamic city. Shenzhen is very advanced in terms of technology. Everywhere you go is clean, everything is new. At every moment you find new renovations and new constructions. At the same time, there are also places with nature where you can spend a tranquil weekend. You don’t have to travel several hours to enjoy hiking or a picnic. Everything is accessible.”

她非常喜欢居住在深圳。“深圳有非常美丽的对比。它是一座充满活力的多元城市。深圳是一座发达的科技之城，这里一切都很干净、很新，每天你都会发现新事物、新建筑，这里也有很多自然美景，你不用坐好几个小时的车去徒步、去野餐，一切都很方便。”

Ahora muy diestra con las aplicaciones chinas como Taobao y Meituan, Alcocer explora y disfruta cada día mucho más. “Ahora, yo soy mucho más china que muchos chinos con el uso de aplicaciones y la búsqueda de promociones. Busco y encuentro de todo, pertenezco a varios grupos de actividades culturales, deportivas o simplemente de recreamiento,” dijo ella muy contenta.

Now, Alcocer is very good at using Chinese apps such as Taobao and Meituan, and she always explores and enjoys everything more. “Now, I’m more Chinese than most Chinese in using these applications and finding promotions. I search and find everything. I am in several groups of culture, sports and entertainment,” said Alcocer happily.

现在，Alcocer能非常熟练地使用美团、淘宝等应用程序，她经常查看各种活动并参与享受其中。“现在，在使用app和寻找优惠活动方面，我比大多数中国人更加像中国人。我搜索并找到了一切，我也加了好几个文娱活动和体育活动的群。”她高兴地说。
