Skills competition open for registration by October 21

The 2022 Shenzhen Skills Competition, which is open to employees from all walks of life in the city, was officially launched recently, Shenzhen Evening News reported yesterday.

The competition is divided into two categories, namely, labor skills and vocational skills competitions. It is estimated that it will attract more than 1 million participants. The deadline for application is 5 p.m. Oct. 21.

The competition is oriented towards power supply service professional skills. The competition’s executive committee has organized experts to appropriately add new knowledge, technology, equipment and skills tests in accordance with national professional skills standards and enterprises’ development in the new era.

Mainland citizens and Hong Kong and Macao residents who are employed or studying in Shenzhen and aged between 16 and the statutory retirement age can be recommended by their employers to enter the competition.

The number of applicants for the same employer is capped at eight, while the number of applicants for the preliminary contest shall not be less than 60 in principle.

If the number of applicants is insufficient, the registration time may be extended or the contest may be canceled, and the competition’s executive committee shall notify the applicants separately.

In addition, contestants who have been identified as “Shenzhen Technical Experts” cannot participate in the vocational skills competition of the same competitive event.

The application is open online through the website https://hrsspub.sz.gov.cn/rcyth/website/#/login. Applicants must fill in information according to requirements and upload their application materials.

The competition is divided into a preliminary contest and the finals. The preliminary contest is a theoretical knowledge contest, which will be held Oct. 28. The top 60 contestants will be selected to enter the finals.

The finals is a hands-on contest, which is expected to be held from Nov. 2 to 3. The contestants’ final ranking is based on the comprehensive results of the preliminary contest and the finals.

Winners who are qualified in all contests can be identified as “Shenzhen Technical Experts.” The first-place winner will have the opportunity to be awarded “Shenzhen May Day Labor Medal.”

The top 15 scorers will also receive generous prize money. The top winner, runner-up and second runner-up will receive 10,000 yuan (US$1,396), 8,000 yuan and 5,000 yuan, respectively.

Those who rank from fourth to eighth places can each get 2,000 yuan, and those ranking from ninth to 15th places can each receive 1,000 yuan.
