In Longgang District, the construction of hiking trails with a total length of 88 kilometers is in full swing. Upon completion, citizens can enjoy ecological spaces with views of mountains, water and the district’s central areas, according to the Longgang District Urban Administration and Law Enforcement Bureau.

The construction of these hiking trails will be completed and open to the public by the end of this year. Hiking trails form an important part of Shenzhen’s “Mountains-to-Sea City Trail Master Plan,” as well as a key part of the city’s greenway system.

According to the bureau, Longgang District is working on 13 hiking trails with a total length of 88 kilometers spanning two subdistricts, Jihua and Bantian, to be completed this year. Next year, additional hiking trails will be completed to cover all the eight subdistricts. The hiking trails will link import nodes and natural landscapes including parks, rivers, reservoirs and city viewing platforms, which will satisfy citizens’ outdoor and leisure hiking needs.

Longgang is rich in Natural resources. Surrounded by mountains on all sides, the district forms a biological layout of building the urban areas along mountains. According to the bureau, the hiking trails being built this year focus on trails in the outskirts, featuring one river and three corridors. The district will gradually link the hiking trails in the outskirts with the district’s ecological belts, greenways and slow traffic system.

To further meet citizens’ diversified needs for outdoor activities, Longgang District plans the construction of different types of hiking trials. The Dawoling Hiking Trail in the middle of the district focuses on the theme of parent-child exploration. It will access Longgang Children’s Park, which is also currently under construction. Along the trail, signs on science education and interactive facilities will be set up to create a child-friendly experience and nature education opportunities.

The Sanzhoutian Hiking Trail in the south of the district caters to citizens’ desire for enjoying mountains and the sea. The Huangzhukeng Hiking Trail in the east of the district focuses on the theme of directional cross-country running. Along the trail, citizens can enjoy natural scenery. Along the Yinhu Mountain Hiking Trail in the west of the district, citizens can see mountains in the city as well as observe the city’s landscape from the mountain.
