German firm launches new services

Global test services provider TÜV Rheinland launched new services in Longhua District yesterday to wrap up its four-day TÜV Rheinland 150th Quality Tour of China that included the cities of Shanghai and Shenzhen.

At the 2022 launch ceremony held yesterday afternoon, TÜV Rheinland launched innovative certification services for foldable mobile phones, outdoor power supply products, servers, and cleaning and sterilization of household appliances.

According to Steve Liu, senior R&D manager of TÜV Rheinland Greater China Electrical, the annual new service launch conference for the Greater China region started in Shenzhen in 2016.

“During the six years of adhering to the development of new services, TÜV Rheinland has always been focusing on user experience. Through in-depth analysis of user data, in combination with domestic and foreign standards and requirements, we have successively developed six service categories,” Liu said.

Yushun Wong, CEO and president of TÜV Rheinland Greater China, said at an event after the launch ceremony that Shenzhen has always been in the forefront of digital infrastructure development as well as product and service innovation in China.

According to Wong, helping enterprises to improve their user experience in intelligent application scenarios has always been the focus of TÜV Rheinland’s development philosophy in recent years.

“It is Shenzhen’s DNA of innovation and inclusiveness that gives us the opportunity to go hand in hand with standards and innovation. Choosing Shenzhen as the last stop of our experience tour means a lot to us,” Wong said.

Jay Yang, vice president of TÜV Rheinland Greater China Electrical, said that TÜV Rheinland, with over a century of professional experience and technological advantages, has been providing safe and sustainable solutions to the challenges arising from the interaction between humans, the environment, and science and technology.

“The company will keep advancing with the times and provide strong support for the innovative development and quality improvement of ‘Made in China,’” Yang said.

The German enterprise also reached a strategic cooperation agreement with Chinese consumer electronics giant TCL Technology Group Corp. to build a display technology joint laboratory.

The lab’s inauguration ceremony was held in TCL’s Pan-Smart Screen BU R&D Center in Nanshan District yesterday morning. The lab is expected to promote the technical progress of the display industry at the practical application level, help the technical improvement of eye care products and protect users’ visual health.

From the new-type display industry, smart homes, the transformation and upgrading of consumer electronics, to the innovative services of “Internet+,” the four-day experience tour encompassed trips to labs in the fields of visual health, smart home appliance performance, smart home user experience and green energy.

Founded in Cologne in 1872, the Germany-headquartered company entered China in the 1980s and has set up offices in over 20 cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
