Many tech products have emerged in the new energy, energy conservation and environmental protection industries since green and sustainable development has been the overarching goal of the international community.

Oiler Equation, Inc., a U.S.-registered company, is showcasing a gas-monitoring device at an international pavilion of the 24th China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District to explore the Chinese market.

The device, named Methane Pro, is an optical gas imaging (OGI) camera that detects methane gas and major natural gas emissions in the camera’s coverage region.

It offers large coverage regions, low false alert rates, ultra-fast response time and 24/7 detection in non-extreme weather conditions, as well as extremely low power consumption. It allows access to any historical and real-time data via the cloud, empowering decision-makers of all levels.

“Most gas-monitoring products currently can only send an alert when detecting gas leaks. But our product can also support quantitative monitoring. So, this is a distinctive feature of the product,” said Fu Bo, one of the founders of the company.

Fu, an overseas Chinese entrepreneur who has lived in the U.S. for over 10 years, is representing his company to attend this year’s CHTF via the Houston Shenzhen Sister City Association.

Fu and his partners started developing the product in 2020. “My previous working experience, coupled with a growing demand for natural gas around the world, enabled me and my partners to seize the opportunity. We also learned a need for this kind of products from previous clients in the petrochemical industry,” Fu said.

The product won the first prize in the category of new energy, energy conservation and environmental protection at the China (Shenzhen) Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition that concluded in September.

China’s carbon peak and neutrality goals also made Fu believe that there will be a huge market potential in the country for the product.
