Keyuan school marks 20th anniversary

A variety of activities were held yesterday at the campus of Keyuan Primary School of the Nanshan Foreign Language School (Group) to mark its 20th anniversary.

The ceremony was inaugurated on campus with the students’ chorus singing “We Are Dream Catchers,” followed by performances of students in different grades.

A photo exhibition was also held to show the development of the primary school over its 20 years. Covering four themes, it exhibits teaching and management achievements, school club activities, and improvements of school buildings.

A milestone for the development of the primary school was the operation of the new facilities in 2021 after a two-year renovation and expansion project was completed.

Li Bin, headmaster of the school, regarded it a gift to mark the 20th anniversary of the school.

The new buildings are equipped with education resources such as the Hall of Sinology and the Hall of Han Dynasty Bricks for students to learn traditional Chinese culture, and the DJI Maker Studio, audio-visual room and TV center for students to grasp advanced skills. At the DJI Maker Studio, a project jointly developed by DJI and the school, students can have regular classes to work with modern technology.

As a school featuring foreign languages, the school also decorated two rooms for Model United Nations, a popular international program for juveniles who are interested in learning about U.N through simulations in line with the way the U.N works.

Founded in 2002 in Shenzhen Hi-Tech Park in Nanshan District, the school, covering 19,981 square meters, now is an affiliated school of Nanshan Foreign Language School,which specializes in foreign language education. It utilizes the Growth Tree curricula structural system, which consists of curricula systems designed for students by students, teachers and parents.

The school also forms its own”1+X” teaching feature, which not only emphasizes English, but also introduces other programs for the overall and personal development of students such as literature, chorus, calligraphy, basketball, football and AI education.

Through its 20 years of development, the school had won various titles such as model school in reading in Guangdong and in Shenzhen, excellent organizing unit for activities of Shenzhen Reading Month, and others.
