City ranks 2nd in attracting young talents born after 1995

Shenzhen's attractiveness to talents born in 1995 or later ranked second among Chinese cities, following Beijing, according to a talent report released by the online recruitment platform Zhaopin on Wednesday.

Shanghai ranked third, followed by Guangzhou and Hangzhou. Among the first-tier cities, Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen have attracted the largest numbers of talents with higher education degrees, hiring over 24.6% of talents in China.

Shenzhen’s innovation index ranked first among the top 20 cities that attract the most talent. The number of patents granted in the city per 10,000 people reached 126, according to Southern Metropolis Daily.

At the same time, Shenzhen has less stringent requirements for hukou, or household registration status, compared with Beijing and Shanghai.

Additionally, Shenzhen ranked third in attracting people born in 1995 or later with a master’s degree, following Beijing and Shanghai.

Cities with diversified entertainment activities also presented solid attraction to talents born in 1995 or later. Lhasa, capital of Southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, and Sanya in Hainan Province were among the report’s top 50 with their advantages in the tourism and entertainment industry.
