SZ team competes in Macao lion dance championship

The 9th MGM Lion Dance Championship — Southern Lion Dance Invitational 2022, kicked off at MGM Theater in Macao yesterday. A total of 17 top troupes from seven provinces and cities across China, including Shangchuan Huang Liansheng Awakening Lion Dance Team from Shenzhen, presented their awe-inspiring acrobatic movements to vie for top prizes in the two-day contest. The Shenzhen team, based in Xin’an Subdistrict, Bao’an District, was founded by Huang Liansheng, a local martial arts master, in the 1930s. Its awakening lion dance was listed as a national intangible heritage last year.
